Rheumatology, rad-onc fellows; peds chief resident join faculty

Medical Center leadership is proud to announce the following additions to its faculty and leadership staff.

Day Lennep, M.D.

Dr. Day Lennep, recently a rheumatology fellow at UMMC, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of medicine.

After receiving her B.S. in chemistry magna cum laude from Mississippi State University in 2007, Lennep served as an emergency department technician at UMMC from 2007-08. She earned her M.D. in 2013 at UMMC, where she also completed her internal medicine residency from 2013-16 and rheumatology fellowship from 2016-18.

Lennep is an active member of the American College of Physicians, the Mississippi Medical Association, the American College of Rheumatology and the Mississippi Arthritis and Rheumatism Society. At the state level, she previously served as a member of both the American College of Physicians Residents' Council and Fellows' Council, and she now serves as a member of the American College of Physicians Governor’s Advisory Council. She served as the resident member on the Mississippi Medical Association’s Council on Legislation.

She has participated in the American College of Physicians Abstract Day at UMMC as a poster presenter and in the Southern Society of Clinical Investigation Annual Meeting as an oral presenter.

Deani Haggerty McVadon, M.D.

Dr. Deani Haggerty McVadon, pediatric chief resident at UMMC, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of pediatrics.

After receiving her B.S. in biological sciences summa cum laude from Mississippi State University in 2011, McVadon earned her M.D. in 2015 at UMMC, where she had a pediatric residency from 2015-18.

Recipient of the 2018 Pediatric Senior Resident of the Year Award, McVadon is the author or coauthor of two articles in peer-reviewed professional publications. She has given three presentations at scientific meetings and is co-investigator of a research project on the early impact of a statewide screening program for critical congenital heart disease in newborns.

Eswara Kumar Mundra, M.B.B.S.

Dr. Eswara Kumar Mundra, recently a radiation oncology fellow at UMMC, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an instructor in radiation oncology.

After earning his M.B.B.S. in 2000 and his M.D. in 2005 at the N.T.R. University of Health Sciences, Siddhartha Medical College, Vijayawada Andhra Pradesh, India, Mundra served as senior resident in radiation oncology at Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences, Punjagutta, Hyderabad, India from 2006-07; as house officer in oncology at the National Radiotherapy Center, St. James Medical Complex, Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago from 2007-08; and as registrar in oncology from 2009-10 and as specialist medical officer in oncology from 2010-15 at the Eastern Regional Health Authority, Sangre Grande Hospital, Trinidad and Tobago. He began his radiation oncology fellowship at UMMC in 2015.

An active member of several professional organizations, including the American Society for Radiation Oncology, the Association of Residents in Radiation Oncology and the American Medical Association, Mundra has given four presentations at scientific meetings in Trinidad and Tobago.
